I’ve always taken “slider” to mean something served on tiny rolls rather than sandwich rolls.
I think it comes from White Castle — which we don’t have around here. But if we did have one you could go there and get sack of tiny (debatably) delicious burgers.

Okay, we did these last night. I’m not sure what slider means. But we did the BST and it was a HUGE HIT! Bravo!
